The REI membership fee of $20 is good for a lifetime membership. So the more years that you have an REI membership, the less it actually ends up costing. If you are buying gear over $200, it pays for itself immediately.

Is Rei open now?
After several months of limited store operations, all REI stores are now open – in a limited capacity – to customers. In some places “open” means curbside service. In others, our doors are open for a limited number of customers at a time.
Can you try clothes on at REI?
As we roll out curbside, it will not be possible to try items on for fit. We hope that our virtual outfitting service can help with fit while we work to reopen stores more fully. Thanks! At REI, we believe time outside is fundamental to a life well lived.
Can you go into REI?
A: After two months of store closures in the spring of 2020, most REI stores are now open – in a limited capacity – to customers. As a result, you may experience longer than usual wait times when visiting your local REI Co-op. Thank you for your patience as we work to keep everyone healthy and safe.
Is Rei taking returns?
For your convenience, REI purchases of new products can be returned by mail or at any of our retail stores, with proof of purchase, regardless of whether you made your purchase online, in a store, or by phone. Please see our Returns Instructions for complete guidelines on how to return new products.
Does Rei do boot fitting?
Our stores offer ski boot fitting services through our Outfitting Scheduler, which would be used if you were looking to try on and purchase ski boots. If you have a pair of ski boots that you are looking to have molded, modified, or custom fit to your feet, that service goes through our ski shop and carries a fee.
Does REI pay for return shipping?
Whether you need to return items purchased online or in a retail store, you can begin the mail-in return process online. See mail-in return exceptions. Please note: $8.95 will be deducted from your refund to cover return shipping for standard size/weight packages when you use the prepaid shipping label provided.
