The newer a ball python morph is, the rarer (and more expensive) it will be. The most expensive ball python ever sold was a lavender albino for $40,000. These snakes now sell for $250 each, as they’re more common.
Is a male or female ball python better?
Re: Male vs Female? If you are looking purely for a pet ball python than a normal (non morph) male will be your best bang for the buck. Many top breeders have a number of normal males for sale and even with shipping they will be a much better snake for someone new to snake keeping.
Why does my ball python hiss at me?
Re: My ball python is hissing at me! The interlocking does not mean they are snuggling – it’s a sign that they are trying to share the same choice spot in the enclosure. Your snake is hissing at you because it’s stressed. (1) Leave it alone for a week, minimum. Make sure it has plenty of cover, hide spots, etc.
What if my ball python bites me?
It’s uncommon for pet ball snakes to bite, but it’s possible. Handling your ball snake appropriately will reduce the chance of a bite. If you receive a bite from a ball python, clean the wound with warm soap and water and contact your doctor. Seek emergency medical treatment if the bite is severe.
How do I know if my ball python is happy?
A “happy” ball python is one that eats regularly and sleeps almost all the time. They’ll typically sleep in their hides and the smaller and tighter the fit is, the “happier” they will be. Refusal to eat and/or constantly cruising around its home are signs of a stressed (or “unhappy”) snake.
Can I handle my new ball python?
After bringing home your new ball python, do not handle for the first two weeks or until it is eating regularly. Handle your snake at least 1-2x weekly, but no more than once daily.
Can I take my ball python out in public?
It’s usually legal to take a pet snake out in public, but you can’t take them to heavily populated local parks and shopping malls. If you do take your snake outside, keep hold of it at ALL times. The downside is that snakes will scare people. Never take venomous or large constrictor snakes outdoors.
